We invite you to join us for our 3rd Annual Truss Competition! Integrating an appreciation for design thinking and cross-curriculum collaboration begins in our Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Physics students’ first engineering course- Statics. Students create their own designs in groups, draft them in a software program, print them on laser cutters in our MakerSpace, and assemble finished truss designs. In this culminating Statics course event, students load their designs to failure in a lively celebration of their efforts.
What's a "truss?"
A framework, typically consisting of rafters, posts, and struts, supporting a roof, bridge, or other structure.
So it should be pretty cool for kids interesting in building things! See you there?
