This is part of our Creative Writing: Finding Your Voice series, where kids were encouraged to free write and let whatever snippets/scenarios come alive on the page.

by Alyssa and Ainsley

Cara was a girl with many emotions. She had a simple and happy life. But, one day her and her mom got in a car crash and both went into a coma for years. She was 13 when this happened. When she woke up her life changed completely.

Cara had found out she had been asleep for 4 years. Her dad drove her to the movies and they saw the emoji movie then they went to DQ for dinner after dinner on the way home Cara asked her dad when her mom was going to wake up. The dad changed the topic to music, or at least tried to. She asked again and she saw a tear in his eye and asked "is she" and he said to her "No, not yet but the don't think she will wake up." Cara was crying. Years passed Cara grew up but her mom never got to see her daughter again.
