Mr. Demaine became the youngest Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of twenty after receiving a Master's degree in Mathematics and a Ph.D. He traveled at a youthful age with his father, whose unconventional approach to homeschooling built his interests in computer science and math.

Willard Boyle is known as the 'Father of the Digital Eye' and 'a pioneer in Physics' in reference to the early innovation of lasers with the mutual help of a few co-workers. He was raised in northern Canada where local schools were not close to rural residents. His mother homeschooled him. Dr. Boyle’s prolific scientific career included inventing the first laser to be used in medicine and helping to select sites on the moon for NASA’s manned landings. And that was just early use! Many, many other inventions were developed using his technology.

He and his older sister Cindy attended an elementary school in North Ridgeville, OH. Unfortunately, Pikey struggled with ADHD and dyslexia. Homeschooling became essential to his his education.

Justin Timberlake, the pop sensation that all of us are familiar with attended an elementary school situated in his hometown in Tennessee. He was homeschooled after he finished the fifth grade. He got lucky and got a break when he appeared on Disney's The Mickey Mouse Club. Other members of this "club" were the likes of Britney Spears and Ryan Gosling.

She began playing professional tennis in her teenage years and in spite of the fact that she sustained several sports injuries during her career, she has won many titles and retained her position as one of the best tennis players ever. His father served as a guard whereas his mother was a teacher in the local Montessori school.

Bethany Hamilton is a professional surfer who was attacked by a shark at the age of 13 on October 31st, 2003 at Tunnels Beach, Hawaii. Despite only having one arm due to this tragedy, she still pursued her dream of becoming a professional surfer and succeeded. Bethany had spent her entire life in Hawaii and began surfing when she was just 4 years old. She officially participated in a surfing competition at the age of 8. Homeschooling allowed her to pursue this ambitious desire. |
