Celestial Navigation: Sextants, Stars & Seasons April 20th
Join us for this monthly class to learn about sextants, stars and the seasons (planets too, but it lacked alliteration ;)
April 6-7pm
Captain Tim Long, who sailed as an officer in the Merchant Marine for 15 years (and an additional 4 yrs besides!) and taught celestial navigation at Annapolis will be guiding our efforts, sharing awesome info, including:
**how to use a sextant and why they're such an important navigational tool
**other navigational tools, including compasses and charts and even navigational trigonometry (will be scheduling some day time classes to go over THAT!)
**how the sky changes with the seasons and what to watch for
Super interesting stuff!
Ages: Whole family can get something out of this, though navigational trigonometry days would be best for 10+
