This is part of our Creative Writing: Finding Your Voice series, where kids were encouraged to free write and let whatever snippets/scenarios come alive on the page. by Morgan My vision was foggy, like I wasn’t really there. I jumped in the shower feeling the hot bullets that exploded into water when they hit me. The water started touching my ankle. I opened my eyes and looked down. The water drain stopped up? I pulled the handle to turn off the shower and let the water go down. The water didn’t turn off. I shook the handle up and down, no use. The water kept getting hotter. Burned me with every drop. I yelped. The water was raising. I pulled the curtain, a brick wall. I pounded the wall, no use. The water was steaming heavily and it was hard to breathe. Deep inhale, long exhale. The water was up to my neck. My body was red from the hot water, still getting hotter. I swam up to the ceiling, breathing the last room of air. Then, I was sucked under water. I struggled, pounding the brick wall with all of my might. My knuckles were sore, about to break. I was getting light headed. My vision getting red and dimmer. My heart stopped, I pushed it to beat but it was dead. I sat up on my bed, gasping heavily. My whole body covered in sweat. It was another bad dream.
