I used to use a spreadsheet to track learning, because homeschooling was new and I worried. Now, he has French, piano, guitar and math required every day, along with reading something (history/science focus) for an hour and telling me about it - and then a variety of group classes throughout the week/month: creative writing, Latin, history, science, math, acting, rock band, karate, Krav Maga, crossfit, robotics, comic book creation, 4H, kidpreneur club, more i'm probably forgetting .... It's funny that folks think we're so all over the place and "when do you do school" is a question I get a lot. We do it all the time! Just differently from lots, I guess.
We're certainly not rigidly academic, that's for sure - it doesn't work well for my tween (and lots of kids, it seems!), but we get so much done with NOT being stuck in that mindset. And this photo is just one I found on my phone, where he wanted to be funny by pointing out, "yes, Panera - I'm eating your bread, as required by the sign." Seems to fit, hmm? #freetolearn #hackschooling #homeschool #education #hsheroes #bedifferent #homeschoolers #happyfuntimes #interestbasedlearning #timeislife #useitwisely
