Homeschooling doesn’t mean your child has to be an athlete, actor or performing artist. Plenty of families homeschool to bring balance in their daily lives when traditional public school schedules don’t work in their favor. However, when your child IS an athlete with a possible Olympic career, a home-based education will help them achieve their goals. Simone Biles wasn’t 100% sure that she wanted to give up going to high school to homeschool to train for competitions, but it paid off in gold!

It’s not an unusual situation for children and teens to be interested in sports enough to want to put all of their time and energy into it. Matter of fact, it’s quite normal. However, academics should never take a backseat to the desire to train and improve athletic skill. Homeschooling becomes an option. It allows time for doing all the necessary physical training and to attend competitions while getting the education needed. Jason Taylor, who’s career now resides in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, homeschooled to fit in weight-lifting and practice into his schedule. While only homeschooled for a few years, the hard work paid off!

Jena Malone was able to make her dreams come true as an aspiring child actress. Moving up from film roles in “Contact” and “Stepmom” she would be cast into teen-motivated movies like “Donnie Darko” and “Life As A House” but eventually Jena would land some pretty noticeable screen time in “Sucker Punch” and “The Hunger Games” franchise. Jena Malone’s modest acting career is credited from homeschooling from the sixth grade to the eighth grade as it allowed her to hone her skill.
