Nothing can replace the hands on learning benefits of experimenting with science projects. It’s a totally different experience from simply learning how chemicals react to one another, how metal responds with certain elements and how even water and air can change when manipulated than actually doing and watching. So, jump in and get your hands dirty while conducting exciting and creative science projects to accompany homeschooling curriculum with these free online resources.

Gravity Defying Beads
This experiment pertains to Newton’s 1st Law of Motion, which states “every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force” and it only takes 2 supplies: a string of beads and a tall glass container.
Gelatin Eruptions
Using boxed gelatin, baking soda and vinegar, you can cause an eruption in a variety of colors. Utilizing different sizes and shapes of containers is encouraged to ensure the project gives a unique experience every time. Remember to cover your surface or use a tray!
See Gas in Pop Rocks
Ever wonder what makes Pop Rocks sizzle and jump around in your mouth? It’s gas! Carbon dioxide to be exact. With the aid of water, balloons, soda, vinegar, baking soda and containers, you will achieve viewing the gas in action by determining if the gas in Pop Rocks can actually blow up a balloon.
