Joyce Reed is the former Associate Dean of the College at Brown University. Currently, she is the founder and director, of College Goals - a private consulting practice. With 15 years of experience in college admissions, Joyce, a Canadian who moved to America during her high-school period and completed her undergraduate studies in English Literature and Greek Classics from Brown University. Unlike most of our Homeschooling Heroes’ posts, note that Joyce Reed was not herself homeschooled, instead, she has successfully homeschooled her five children. Homeschooling Her Children Working as an experienced educator for decades, she served as a role model for her children who spent most of their time learning at home. Yes, Joyce taught her children at home until they entered their favored universities or colleges. People frequently asked her about the difficulties of homeschooling five children at once but she always considered it as her goal and mentioned homeschooling as plain fun. She describes that the period when her youngsters were learning at home was the most satisfying, enjoyable, and joyous moments of her life. Her children joined highly selective and competitive institutes and followed their desired goals and interests. In fact, Joyce claims that she has learned so much from her children and their success derives her more to work at College Goals. Achievements: College Goals After homeschooling five her children and having them admitted to colleges and universities, Joyce intended to aid others too. Thereby, she left Brown University as Associate Dean of the College and opened a private consulting practice known as College Goals. College Goals helps, supports, and motivates young adults and teens to peruse their dreams and get past their goals within no time. Most students suffer a lot throughout their higher education experience. Joyce also co-authored a book with David H. Albert aptly named “What Really Matters” about the joys of homeschooling! What Joyce is Doing Now? Currently, Joyce is focusing on academic advising of high school students and providing high-end admission experience to clients from America and England. She intends to support students get through the hidden truths of the higher education system and support them in pursuing their perspective goals. |
