Homeschooling in Oklahoma does not require a certified teacher, testing

These recommendations are not required by Oklahoma state law, however, following these suggestions would allow a parent to prove they are providing an adequate education.
Compulsory School Age
In the State of Oklahoma, all children age five must begin school and attend academic studies until they are eighteen or graduated.
Notification Recommended
As a courtesy, notify the principal/superintendent of the school district the child lives in and inform them of your intent to homeschool.  Some schools may have their own process by having you sign a form that releases them from the responsibility of educating the student. Also, stating that you are assuming full responsibility for the education of your child by teaching them at home.
Attendance Required
The instructional days of required in order to comply with state attendance laws is 180 days (6 hrs per day, 360 minutes per day).
Curriculum
There is no required state approved curriculum, but an appropriate curriculum or plan for home-learning should be implemented. Home education should at least be equivalent to the education provided by the state. Required school subjects under Oklahoma law for public school  include:
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Science
  • Citizenship
  • U.S. Constitution
  • Health
  • Safety
  • Physical Education
  • Conservation

Academic progress must be established and maintained for the child.
